Frequently asked questions

From what age and weight can I use Nelu Close?

Nelu Close covers a wide weight range of 3.6-16 kg. Smooth velcro adjustment of the main panel means one carrier is enough for the entire babywearing journey - no need to buy separate "infant" or "toddler" models.

Is the carrier safe for hips and spine?

Yes. The deep seat contouring ensures the correct "M" position, the anatomical headrest stabilizes the head, and the X-shaped crossable straps evenly distribute weight. The design meets the EN 16512 standard - SGS reports available upon request.

What is it made of and how to care for it?

Vanilla Cream and Classic Houndstooth variants: 90% cotton, 10% linen (Oeko-Tex Standard 100). Other colours: 100% cotton. Duraflex® buckles, polyamide webbing, PU and EVA foam padding. Machine wash at 30°C, do not bleach.

Ile pozycji noszenia mam do wyboru?

Two: front carry (belly-to-belly) and on the parent's back. The intuitive adjustment system allows you to quickly share the carrier between a petite mom and a tall dad.

From what age and weight can I use the Nelu Close carrier?

The Nelu Close carrier was designed for safe use from the first weeks of life (from a weight of 3.6 kg) right up to the end of your babywearing journey, until your child reaches a weight of 16 kg. Thanks to the smooth hook-and-loop panel adjustment, the carrier adapts perfectly to your growing little one at every stage of development. If your baby was born prematurely or has diagnosed developmental asymmetries, it is recommended to consult a pediatric physiotherapist before first use.

What is the Nelu Close carrier made of and how do I care for it?

At Nelu, we are committed to exceptional craftsmanship, which is why we choose only certified, top-quality fabrics and components:

  • Natural fabrics: They provide excellent temperature regulation and are completely safe for baby's delicate skin. The Soft Sand Houndstooth and Classic Houndstooth variants are a blend of 90% cotton and 10% linen, while all other colourways are made from 100% pure cotton. All fabrics are Oeko-Tex Standard 100 certified.
  • Components and padding: Nelu Close carriers feature certified Duraflex® buckles and smooth polyamide webbing that adjusts effortlessly and never slips under baby's weight. The shoulder straps are softly padded with polyurethane foam, and the waistband with resilient EVA foam.

How to care for your carrier?
Nelu Close is machine washable on a gentle cycle (maximum 30°C) using mild, baby-safe detergents. Before placing it in the drum, fasten all buckles and secure the hook-and-loop fasteners on the main panel. We recommend washing in a protective laundry bag. Dry flat, away from direct sunlight, and do not tumble dry.

When will I receive my Nelu Close carrier?

Orders placed on business days before 12:00 PM are shipped the same day, and for deliveries within Poland, you can expect your parcel as early as the next business day. If you place an order on Friday after 12:00 PM, over the weekend, or on a public holiday, we will ship it on the next business day.

Does babywearing really affect a baby's neurological development?

That is what the research shows! When you carry your baby and your body moves, your little one constantly experiences movement stimuli. This actively stimulates their vestibular system in the inner ear, which is responsible for balance and spatial awareness. Scientific research, including studies published in a prestigious scientific journal Child Development (vestibular stimulation study), show that such natural stimulation accelerates motor development, makes it easier to learn body control, and supports the formation of new neural connections in an infant's brain.

Does babywearing reduce crying in infants? What does the research say?

Constant closeness and gentle rocking act as a natural stress regulator for a baby's nervous system. A landmark clinical study published in the official medical journal of the American Academy of Pediatrics Pediatrics (Hunziker & Barr) proved that infants who were carried for at least 3 hours a day, cried and fussed by up to 43% less during the day (and 51% less during evening hours). Carrying also helps soothe painful colic and makes falling asleep easier.

Where and how are Nelu carriers made?

We are committed to putting a product into your hands that meets the highest standards of safety, technology, and quality. That is why we entrust the manufacturing of our carriers to a specialized sewing facility in China. We chose them after months of searching and testing different factories - to be certain we are working with the best.

We want to emphasize one very important thing: we do not operate on a dropshipping model, and we do not sell off-the-shelf products from wholesalers.

Nelu carriers are sewn directly for us, and we oversee their production and quality at every single stage. The carrier's structural base was developed by our sewing workshop and refined strictly to our specifications. We care about every detail - from selecting the right webbing to subtle touches like custom dyeing the buckles so their shade perfectly matches our fabrics. We exclusively use materials with Oeko-Tex certification in our production.

In short: we put a thoughtfully designed, refined, and 100% safe product into your hands, standing behind it from the very first thread to the final testing.

What specific safety tests has the Nelu Close carrier passed?

Our baby carriers meet the European safety standard EN 16512 and have been fully tested by the global laboratory SGS. The tests covered:

  • Structural safety: Rigorous dynamic and static strength testing ensuring that seams, buckles, and straps withstand daily use without risk of breaking.
  • Chemical and physical safety: Badania potwierdzające brak toksycznych substancji (takich jak szkodliwe barwniki czy metale ciężkie) oraz brak małych, łatwo odrywających się elementów (eliminacja ryzyka zadławienia).
  • Free airflow: The design meets safety standards for free airflow around baby's face, completely eliminating the risk of CO₂ rebreathing.

Official technical reports from the SGS Laboratory are available upon request.

In what positions can I carry my baby in the Nelu Close carrier? Can it be worn on the front and back?

Yes, the carrier allows you to carry your baby in two completely safe and ergonomic positions: on the front (tummy-to-tummy with the parent) and on the back (on the parent's back). Front carrying is ideal from the first weeks of life, while the back carry position is perfect for older, heavier little ones who want to take in the world during your journeys together.

How does the carrier ensure comfort for the parent's back and shoulders?

Comfort is guaranteed by three design features: the shoulder straps cross on your back in an X-system (which optimally distributes the baby's weight), the shoulder straps have soft polyurethane foam padding, and the wide waist belt is filled with resilient EVA foam, taking maximum strain off your spine.

What exactly will I receive with my order? How is the carrier packaged?

Every Nelu Close baby carrier comes with a practical canvas bag featuring our logo, making storage and travel easy. The whole set is packed in an exceptionally elegant, minimalist rigid box, featuring a convenient magnetic closure.
